The Australian Lifeguard Service Northern Territory employs lifeguards in roles from entry-level lifeguards through to lifeguard supervisors.
The Service in the Territory is unique as we don’t just provide Beach Lifeguards, our Lifeguards operate 365 days a year at several locations around Greater Darwin, including water parks, beaches and pools.
Becoming a lifeguard in the Territory is a challenging but rewarding role and in this section we have made it easy for you to understand what is required to become a lifeguard in Australia’s leading lifeguard service.
To be part of our industry leading world-class organisation, our lifeguards must be 16 years or over and demonstrate high levels of fitness, excellent rescue and people skills, and hold the following qualifications:

The annual fitness assessment involves a 400m swim, 800m run, 400m rescue board paddle and 800m run at the beach – in under 25 minutes.
