The Australian Lifeguard Service (ALS) South Australia is built on the resources of its people, casual staff who work hand-in-hand with the extensive voluntary network that has effectively patrolled South Australia’s beaches since the early 1930.

The Australian Lifeguard Service has access to extensive resources and a national infrastructure that includes communications networks, specialist rescue services and the provision of nationally accredited training, along with international experts in medicine, equipment and coastal management.

The ALS South Australia contracts Lifeguard Services to the City of Holdfast Bay with the primary service provided at Glenelg beach from mid/ late December through to March.

In addition the ALS South Australia contracts to the Alexandrina Council to provide a service to Goolwa Beach for the January school holidays.

The ALS South Australia can provide Lifeguards to supervise aquatic events in the metro and regional areas of the state.

Water Safety and First Aid Services are available for many varied events which include –

  • Corporate events
  • Radio and television promotion
  • Movie productions
  • School/Outdoor Group excursions
  • Rowing/Canoeing/Dragon Boat events
  • Boats shows, fishing competitions and various festivals
  • Open water swims and triathlons
