The Australian Lifeguard Service South Australia employs lifeguards every year in roles from entry-level lifeguard through to lifeguard supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To be part of our industry leading world-class organisation, our lifeguards must be 18 years or over and demonstrate high levels of fitness, excellent rescue and people skills, and must hold the following qualifications and be proficient in:

  • Surf Life Saving Australia Bronze Medallion
  • HLTAID011/HLTAID003 – Provide first aid
  • Advanced Resuscitation Techniques [AID] award or HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation Techniques and Oxygen Therapy.
  • Current Drivers Licence (including Provisional)

 

The following are desirable (proficient):

  • Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue award.
  • Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Crew and / or Silver Medallion Driver award
  • Rescue Water Craft operator award

The fitness assessment involves a 400m swim (completed in a pool no smaller than 25 metres in length) in 8 minutes or under*
